Project Overview

This project traces the full hybrid 3D and AI workflow now used across client work: an early clay pass to lock geometry and camera, photoreal renders and lifestyle scenes generated from a single locked reference sheet, and a fully hand-built exploded-view animation with no AI involved.

1. Clay render

Before any AI generation began, each camera angle was locked using a clay and ambient-occlusion render straight out of Blender. Fixing geometry and framing at this stage meant every render generated afterwards, whatever its materials or lighting, stayed true to the same product shape and camera position.

2. PDP renders

With camera and geometry locked, each clay pass was paired with a single reference sheet of the product’s real materials, from the fabric grille to the control knobs, and regenerated into a photoreal render. Keeping geometry and materials as two separate, locked inputs meant every angle stayed consistent with the others.

3. Lifestyle images

The same reference sheet carried over into lifestyle generation, placing the speaker into real-world settings, a kitchen counter, a poolside gathering, a backyard tailgate, a study room, while keeping its materials and proportions identical to the studio renders. Each scene also respects the product’s real constraints as a mains-powered, non-portable speaker.

 

4. 3D animation

The final piece was a fully hand-built exploded-view animation, modelled, lit and animated entirely in Blender with no AI involved, breaking the speaker down into its individual components and reassembling it piece by piece.

 

Reflection

This project became the proving ground for a repeatable hybrid workflow: lock geometry and camera with a clay pass, apply real materials from a single locked reference sheet, then extend that same reference across lifestyle scenes, before layering in hand-built 3D animation where AI still can't replace the craft.
